| Revolving nosepiece | Holds the objectives and can be turned to change the magnification objective lenses |
| Objectives lenes | Magnification lenses - found in low powers to higher powers. Most often 10X , 40X etc |
| Arm | Supports the body tube |
| Stage | Area that supports a slide |
| Stage Clips | Holds the slide in place for viewing |
| Diaphragm | Controls the amount of light let through the stage and through the slide sample |
| Course Adjustment Knob | Moves body tube or stage up or down for major adjustments |
| Fine Adjustment Knob | Moves body tube or stage up or down very slightly for sharpening image |
| Light Source | Provides the light to view slide. (hint - less is best) |
